TORONTO (March 19, 2019) – OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council), Ontario’s vehicle sales regulator, has enlisted tag to help increase consumer awareness of OMVIC, and to educate people on buying a new or used vehicle, sharing helpful tips and information to empower them as purchasers and protect their rights.

The role of OMVIC is to maintain a fair and informed marketplace in Ontario by protecting the rights of consumers; however, many consumers are intimidated when it comes to buying a car. It can be a daunting, stressful experience — very few people truly feel confident walking into a dealership with complete knowledge on what to look for, questions to ask, andwhat they’re entitled to.

With the above said, tag was tasked to generate a series of concise videos that summarize consumer vehicle purchasing tips available on OMVIC’s website.

OMVIC provided us with extensive knowledge that we could arm buyers with, so they feel confident when buying a car, new or used,” says Ian Schwey, VP Executive Creative Director at tag. “With so much information to communicate, we decided to create The OMVIC Academy, a series of fun ‘80s sitcom’-style online videos featuring a professor and students, which allowed us to educate consumers on all that they need to know, but in an entertaining and digestible manner.”

The videos, and consumer friendly OMVIC Academy Car-Buying Guide, were launched at the recent Canadian International Auto Show, where they generated a huge amount of interest and attention.

“With knowledge and awareness comes confidence and empowerment,” stated Terry O’Keefe, OMVIC Director of Communications and Education. “And the humour and unique story-telling delivered by the engaging characters of the OMVIC Academy videos helps would-be car buyers get educated—so they don’t get schooled.”

The OMVIC Academy series of videos are available online and on social media, driving consumers to the OMVIC website to learn more.
