Shining a light on culture: the tag torch

On Monday mornings we reset our minds for the upcoming tasks for the week. The truth is, many of us find ourselves with our heads buried in our computers, headphones in – seizing time to focus. We’re motivated by keeping certain priorities at the forefront; writing briefs, art directing, creating thought-provoking presentations, generating strategies that fuel results – essentially, doing our best to produce work that keeps our clients happy. But it’s also important to be acknowledged for all of the above.Screen Shot 2016-02-11 at 12.06.48 PM

Last summer, tag introduced the “tag torch” to recognize and celebrate each other for our daily efforts.

Culture at tag is something we undeniably take pride in. Our agency environment is a reflection of who we are, from the unique personality-driven walls that surround us, to our ongoing social events. The tag torch initiative was launched as an outlet to express the gratitude we have for one another. It serves as a weekly reminder that we’re more than just individuals who work hard; we’re a team that leans on – and thrives off – each other to persistently push forward. Whether it’s notable work or advice that simply made someone’s day, it’s imperative to appreciate the positive impact of our growing synergy.

On Friday afternoons, we gather to listen to the previous tag torch-bearer say a few words about who will be the next recipient, and why they deserve it. The receiver is handed the coveted tag torch, and is gifted a box of tag matches inscribed with the following note:

“Genius is initiative on fire. You’ve earned the flame, keep it close. And if you ever doubt yourself, think about all you have accomplished, strike a match, feel the glow, and live the inspiration.”

Ultimately, our “whole” is greater than the sum of our parts. We can learn and grow individually, but it’s our camaraderie and combined efforts that inspire tag’s achievements. And that is something we can all be proud of.
